Jan. 11 Northern Michigan Homebrewers Guild meeting minutes:
Attendance: Jon Throop, Chuck Green, Tom Haug, James Cook, Karl Gagnon. Snowstorm deterred a lot of folks from attending.
— Jolly Pumpkin and North Peak agreed to sponsor the banner and give discounts to members.
— Homebrew competition entrants are Chuck Green, Tom Haug, Craig Babiarz, Kirk Shanley and Nate Ely.
— Matt Hall gave us a tour of the Jolly Pumpkin operation, including samples of a yet-to-be-released porter, It was the best tour we’ve had yet, complete with lots of stories about the brewing business from Mr. Hall.
— Chuck has the new website is set up at http://nmhomebrewers.org/. He’s encouraging members to submit photos from previous gatherings, as well as their own brew setup.
— Rare Bird and Big Cat have also agreed to be sponsors. Bravo Zulu is interested, and possibly Hop Lot and Lake Ann. Terra Firma declined, at least for this year. So far, we have commitments from Filling Station, Ferment, North Peak, Jolly Pumpkin, Short’s, Diversions, Rare Bird and Big Cat.
There’s probably more that Jon and Chuck can add, as we discussed a wide range of topics during the drive up the Peninsula to Jolly Pumpkin, but I didn’t take notes in the car.
